Quickstart for agents
Give an agent its own wallet and a hard budget. Then let it buy what it needs, one request at a time.
An agent that can pay can work on its own. Four steps get it there, and you keep control the whole way.
1. Create an Agent Wallet
Each agent gets its own wallet, funded from your main wallet and kept apart from it. See Agent Wallet.
2. Set a mandate
Before the agent spends anything, set:
- a daily budget,
- a per-call cap,
- an allowlist of sellers it may pay.
The chain enforces all three. See Mandates.
3. Make paid calls
import { createFetch } from "@nouspay/fetch";
const pay = createFetch({ signer: agentWallet });
// Handles 402 automatically: checks the mandate, pays, retries.
const res = await pay("https://seller.example/forecast?symbol=NVDA");
const forecast = await res.json();Over the cap or off the allowlist, the call fails before anything is signed.
4. Or use MCP
Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients join without writing code. See MCP native.
5. Keep a hand on the leash
- Spend Dashboard: what each agent bought, by endpoint and by day.
- Budget Alerts: Telegram or webhook before a limit is reached.
- Kill Switch: freeze every agent payment with one signature.
